the swedes play rough... too bad the Germans threw away their style... for obvious reasons.

So is it a draw the most favourable result in SWE vs KOR that we should hope for due to the corner that Germany put itself in ?

I think it's the least favourable result.
If South Korea win, Germany could technically still qualify even with a loss against Sweden.
If Sweden and South Korea draw, Germany absolutely need to win to leave their hopes alive, I think :?:

I don't think so.

If this game ends in a draw, under the right circumstances Germany might get away with 4 points (draw for Sweden who lose to Mexico, or draw vs South Korea and higher goal difference than Sweden).
If someone wins today, Germany probably need to win both games, unless Mexico beat today's winner.

In any case winning both games should put Germany through. However, with a winner today it's possible that 3 teams will end with 6 points, so goal difference is important.

Well you're saying the same thing.

Germany could progress with just 3 points if and only if Sweden vs South Korea does not end in a draw.*

On the other hand, if it doesn't end in a draw, Germany could theoretically still get eliminated if they win their next 2 matches.**

* Mexico 9, Germany 3, Sweden 3, South Korea 3 (Germany progress due to a superior GD)
** Mexico 6, Sweden 6, Germany 6, South Korea 0 (Germany eliminated due to an inferior GD)

Didn't realise you meant 3 points but don't think so anyway.

If today ends in a draw... Germany win one game and lose another. Best case scenario it's goal difference vs Mexico.

Someone wins today. Germany beat the winner and lose the other game. Best case scenario this also requires goal difference, and is probably harder than the first case.

What do you mean you don't think so?

Imagine these results:

Sweden 0-1 South Korea
Germany 0-1 Sweden
Mexico 1-0 South Korea
Germany 3-0 South Korea
Sweden 0-1 Mexico

In such a scenario Germany would progress with 3 points. It's a best case scenario.

On the other hand, if the current match ends in a win for either team, Germany could *THEORETICALLY* get eliminated even if they win 10-0 against Sweden and 10-0 against South Korea. This would be the worst case scenario.

But those aren't the only results were those points are possible. In both cases it is possible to get eliminated or qualify on goal difference. I don't think there's much difference.

If Sweden win, Germany might only need 3 points to progress. Or they may also fail to qualify with 2 wins.
