Don't forget. 4th sub in extra time.

The question is: Can Russians create a miracle. They are resisting and fighting hard, but if they can't move to the opponent's half and create a chance... Hardly they can reach a penalty shootout.

By the way as a Maltese I can never support Spain (although I did when they played italy but that is an exception)

Don't know tbh. I just pretend he doesn't exist for the greater good.

Btw what did spain do to Malta? Surely can't be worse than what the British did

I do want Russia to win this though. But Spain will get through by hook or by crook

Spain are looking terrible, some stronger team would beat them in 90 minutes.

Only Isco is trying really, really hard. The rest of the team is toothless, with the Andres substitution they are sharper but I don't know why he take of Costa. Asenssio is playing terrible, tici taca is not suiting him.

The problem for the big teams are the obsession with possession and the countless passing.

In the dying mins a Russian guy was entering the penalty area alone but Alba decided to dive ... the Ref thought that the home player fouled and stopped his advance.

Gotta tip your hat to these Russians. Easy group but pushing Spain to OT is an accomplishment.

Consequences of a control addiction. You pass and pass and pass and nothing is going on while at the time there's a bigger fear of losing the ball and being under pressure and attacked by opponents who are constantly defending and holding a concentration and a discipline that requires an amazing mental strength.

I still think that Lopetegui would be.a far better choice, but they sacked him.

Even if Russia end their campaign today, they are already moral winners. The team was so under pressure given the fact their last 4 competitions were terrible and they didn't do a damn thing in France, Brasil, Poland and Ukraine, South Africa...

Very expensive foreign coaches weren't of any good, they took the money and bye bye unlike their own man who managed to win 2 group games and hold significantly better Spain team.

But I agree about the match's display - totally opposite to yesterday's tremendous matches, teams' displays and results.

Rodrigo Moreno - "Hierro didn't love him" story.

I bet Lopetegui would have used him in the starting 11.
