...Honestly, you gotta stop with this nonsense "you should always play for the country of your ancestor". For most of these guys (not only in the Belgium case, it applies to most people who are "non-European" according to your criteria), they have barely any contact with the country of their ancestor and everything links them to Belgium. You could even go further and ask yourself what has their ancestors' ever done for them?

This is the goddamn 21sr century : I live in Brussels and everywhere I go, I see Belgians with different ethnicities and it's f*cking beautiful! Why the hell should it be different in the national team?

Eventually most (if not all) European teams will completely lose their genetic-identities, and probably their cultural-identities as well. The Euro2060 Final will look like Chelsea-vs-Arsenal.

Non-Belgian, yeah sure... From the 11 players who started yesterday :

Thibaut Courtois - Belgian parents
Leander Dendoncker - Belgian parents
Thomas Vermaelen - Belgian parents
Dedrick Boyata - Belgo-Congolese parents
Thorgan Hazard - Belgian parents
Nacer Chadli - Moroccan parents, born and raised in Belgium
Marouane Fellaini - Moroccan parents, born and raised in Belgium
Mousa Dembele - Belgian mother and Malian father, born and raised in Belgium
Adnan Januzaj - Kosovar parents, born and raised in Belgium
Youri Tielemans - Belgian father and Congolese mother, born and raised in Belgium
Michy Batshuayi - Congolese parents, born and raised in Belgium, never put a foot in RD Congo.

So of your 11 "non Belgians", you have in fact 4 who don't have any other nationality, 2 who are more than 50% linked to Belgium (one parent + lived there their whole life).
You still have 5 other players, all of whom were born Belgian, raised there, played all their youth football there...

Honestly, you gotta stop with this nonsense "you should always play for the country of your ancestor". Money talks...

Plus ...I would never represent the country which enslaved by ancestors.

Iranian striker who plays in Russia wont retired from the NT at the age of 23.

He was at the end of too much criticism...

No way will they beat Colombia. They look an excellent side, or at least they did when I watched them in their second half v Poland.

Unfortunately if James misses the game he's a big loss for them

This is very likely to be a starting lineup of Croatia on Sunday:

Image

Now it's gonna be either 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1/4-5-1

Kramarić is out against the physically strong, disciplined and well-organized Denmark team where one more midfielder must help Modrić and Rakitić behind to secure the midfield.

Uruguay, France, Mexico, Japan or Belgium, Russia, Croatia, Schweiz, Colombia or England. :P

FCB general, what do you think about Croatia's WC at this point? Seem to recall you were a bit skeptical as the start.

Yes, I was, but game after game under new coach Dalić they were getting better and better and better and this is a result of his great work in such a short time.

Croatia finally win against teams you would expect to win in the World Cup. Everything started back iin Euro 2008 when we passed the griup for the first time after 1998 bronze. In the Euro 2012 we also did our job against Ireland but failed to pass the group against Spain who robbed us. In Brazil we were also outplayed by a Japanese idiot of a ref in the opening match, but beat Cameroon and lost vs Mexico. Euro 16' and now WC 2018 the same story.

Wr have a quality to reach the semifinal, however... Euro 08' and 16' are examples that out ofvthe group there are no clear favourites and everyone can beat everyone.

Denmark is our final and D-Day. If we defeat them, then very likely we will face Spain who we also defeated in the group stage 2 years ago with our reserve team who dominated the match.

With Croatia you never know, mate. Our Croatian mentality can be our great ally against big teams, but also our biggest enemy against the 'smaller' teams.

Iceland kicked our asses hard in the qualifiers when we looked terrible as a team in the pitch, but we returned to them in the tournament.

This is the last chance for this generation who's led by Modrić, Rakitić, Ćorluka and Mandžukić. If we see any of the mentioned in 4 years, it's gonna be a miracle. Now it's the time and the last ride.

Fully agree. Surely the fact that they want to play for Belgium, Switzerland, France etc is a good thing for integration rather than harking back to the country of their ancestors.

Didier Deshamps is so mad... I am not sure who is the craziest between Loew and Deshamps...

Matiudi RW
Giroud. CF

Edit.
On an other source I saw it as a 433
Mbappe Giroud (who is still has zero shots on target) Griezmann

England can still avoid both Brazil and Spain by losing to Columbia [sic] [source]

My favorite part:
"Southgate has also pledged to lose all the qualifiers for the next tournament to avoid a possible Quarter-Final tie with France in Euro 2020."

The Knockout rounds. Or as D likes to say, "where the fun begins." I have so many memories of knockout games in World Cups involving Platini, Rummenigge, Zico, Socrates, Careca, Maradona, Caniggia, Suker, Ronaldo (the póker Ronaldo). . . Man. The best moments in football started here.

Anyhow I wish you all enjoy the WC as much as we do here in SA. After all, on the World Cup, you are ALWAYS rooting for someone. Always.

P.S today I am going to watch France for the first time... Probably by 18.30 they will be eliminated
