They'll probably cash in sooner or later... they'll get a lot of money for him after Simeone leaves so they're lucky.

I don't know if they'll sell their current start players tbh. I even though I hate them I have to admit Altetico is on the right path besides losing those two major finals. They'll have a huge stadium from next season (if they manage to get a good revenue, paying the expansion won't be an issue since they already own it), most of their players have long term contracts and have lots of potential. If Simeone's successor is a great coach, Atleti will stay as a top team for years...

Luckily, he's got 90 mil € release clause(if I'm not mistaken). Very attractive fee for the European competition.

Before being scared off by the reported €90-100m buyout clause...Keep in mind that La Liga clubs are required to put buyout clauses into players' contracts. That's why guys like Kroos have a €300m clause, €200m for Suarez, supposedly €250m for Messi, and a reported €1,000,000,000 for Ronaldo. As these clauses are retired, most of the time they get set very high with the expectation that nobody will meet them (for example, when we bought Javi by activating his buyout). Usually if the player truly wants a sale they will negotiate downward from the set buyout price, TBH it's kinda rare that they get paid in full outright.
