I'm not into Thiago-bashing but he was very disappointing yesterday, period.

He deserves a chance to play a season without alonso along his side.
But he will never be world class, he will never ever be closed to what Schweinsteiger was.

Too many mistakes and sloppy passes yesterday, but he wasn't the reason we lost.

Sure, but it's not like a new Bastian can be grown from thin air.

Sorry but we have to be so careful when we make criticism after all the external factors hermed us, Thiago is a player who needs freedom on the field, for me he was doing a good job before Vidal expulsion.

If he had a player like James or Verratti by his side he will develop all his potential

Thiago....James
.........Vidal

Or

........Thiago
Vidal......Verratti

Here's what I wrote in the player section:

He has highs and lows within the game. Ran a lot, covered a lot of ground, and extended a lot of plays. But also conceded some very stupid passes and lost possession a few too many times. He is a bit too cocky for his own good, he needs to calm down and at times see that like Kroos or Xavi, you don't have to be flashy to control the midfield.

And just like with Vidal, I think he got too tired covering up ground for Alonso.

I hope next season he continues his growth. Hopefully and Vidal can still keep going at this level.

Thiago was doing fine yesterday, he suffered when Vidal came off and at times had to cover for Alonso but by and large certainly wasn't one of our worst performers on the day.

We would've maybe won with Bastian? Unless you can get in a time machine and bring Schweinsteiger from 3-4 years ago back to our squad I don't think that's the case. But Thiago and Schweini aren't really similar players by any stretch to begin with so I don't understand why this is brought up at all.

I can see why we are disappointed at Thiago performance because of his high standard but he is not alone at fault

Then he isn't the type of midfielder that we need

I think the freedom in the midfield has helped him to showcase his talents more this season but at the same time against the top teams this freedom makes our midfielders including Thiago less effective and disorganized.
