Or play De Ligt as a 6. He has all the attributes to play the position, he is young to grow into the role and it will give him more opportunities to show leadership. The best of it, it will keep Kimmich on the RB position.

Forget it. We can't afford to compete with the salaries offered to him simply because with Italy and Spain slashing taxes in order to attract rich foreigners, in order to offer him the same net salary we would need to pay a lot, lot, looot more in terms of gross salary than would Juventus or Barcelona.

So, thank Merkel.

Merkel isn't to be blamed here ...it is Bayern management which doesn't want to spend ... especially Uli Hoeness who seems to live somewhere back in 2007- 2009 when we bought Robben and Ribery quite cheap ... in today's market this is absolutely impossible to be done but we keep trying . that's why we gonna end up with some real shitty players who won't do much in the club .

Apparently he will have a 150m release clause that activates in 2022. He will only be like 22 at that time, so if Barca still want him and he has developed as expected, I suspect they won't have much trouble reuniting him and FdJ.

Bayern would never have agreed on a release clause. Maybe that made them withdraw from the race.

well 150m is not peanuts for a defender who would pay 150m for a cb?
Also the release clause will start from 2022 because the new italian tax law says that you must stay at least 2 years in Italy or you'll have to pay back what you didn't pay during your stay

By the way transfer prices keep increasing, it won't be too long before top defenders start moving for 150m.

Well, at the moment the benchmark for a top CB is already around 80m; de Ligt himself is selling at 19 for a fee that would have been a world record for a defender just two years ago. That trend is increasing and TBH shows no signs of slowing down at the moment. Just a year or two ago people thought such fees as for Neymar, Mbappe, Griezmann, Coutinho, Felix, etc were all impossible; of course we see clearly that that's not the case.

Unless we either a.) expect the transfer market to utterly crash, b.) de Ligt to fail to develop as projected, or c.) both, I think it's fair to say at 22 it wouldn't be surprising to see a number of clubs willing to pay that fee.

Never mind that when all is said and done Juve will likely have paid 150m for him anyways when you account transfer fee, wages, bonuses, Raiola's fee, etc etc etc......
