For me, he's the ideal recruit because he has all the attributes of the modern CB and he can play as a right-back too, but the competition for him is fierce + PSG don't want to let him go.

He can play RB?! that would be huge for us, maybe he could turn into a permanent rb

I probably would prefer him at CB as I don't think his pace and natural skill sets make for a top FB but one of a top potential CB in the future.

He'd be great for 3 at the back.

Now that would be great to see, makes me wonder if Ancelotti will follow the rising emergence of the three in the back.

Well, I think it's a great tactical options so I would be surprised if Ancelotti didn't even consider it.
I think Laporte would fit even better though.

La Porte is a Basque-French, like Lizarazu.

With a double pivot of Alaba and Vidal or
--------Vidal-------Javi-----------
Alaba----Boateng---Marquinhos. Then we could finally see a Javi- Vidal midfield pairing and still have room for Thiago, 2 wingers, and Lewa-Müller up front.

It does although I guess I am thinking more long term since we are starting a new era of Bayern new season and Lahm has stated multiple time that he doesn't intend to extend his contract. I'm not thinking we will abandon him next season or anything, just curious of how Carlo will best utilize our players going forward. If we pick up a CB like Marquinhos who can play RB as well he would fit very well into a RCB slot like Alaba did last season on the left. If we can't find a quality RB to replace Lahm, it might make more sense to play 3 atb and if so a double pivot in front of it would make sense to make sure our back line isn't overwhelmed by heavy hitting front lines like Barca. Then we would have a chance to see a Javi-Vidal pairing like you've wanted for a while without compromising the front 5 we have been using for a while.

Marquinhos is great, really great.

But... PSG is in another world for transfert ...

I mean, Qatar is here since 2011 and they already beat 5x times Bayern transfert-record with Thiago Silva, Cavani, Di Maria, Lucas, David Luiz.

Even Marquinhos was bought by them for ... 32M€ !!!

I think they don't want to let him go, they don't care if he wants to leave.

But if he leaves ... it's not for 30M€... more like 50-60M€... and we all know Bayern won't put this on the table.
4-3-3 : Neuer - Kimmich Boateng Hummels Alaba - Goretzka Thiago James - Robben Lewandowski Gnabry
3-5-2 : Neuer - Boateng Hummels Alaba - Thiago - Kimmich Goretzka James Coman - Müller Lewandowski

As long as he doesn't play in the midfield for us I'm fine with the potential transfer
