Be nice to each other. Anyway, we don't have any sources. There is no indication that Martinez is coming.

Element wrote:ACCORDING TO SPORT1 ...Bayern have agreed on paying the 40 million euro clause to sign Javi Martinez!!!!!

I saw this on FB last night without a link, and it was in German, so my still poor German wasn't enough to determine whether it was something new or just a repetition of old news.

We'll wait until it's official but Sport1 tends to be reliable. To be honest, I have always expected this transfer to happen eventually and while I definitely am against paying that amount of money, I was expecting it to happen after last Sunday. Schweini's injury might not be serious but it's enough to ring the alarm bells.

In the end, my consolation is that I will not be paying any of those 40 million myself. :P It's a very very big gamble, but at least Bayern can afford to make crazy transfers every now and then. Hopefully it will work out, because in a year's time we might be laughing and saying we got a bargain while others wasted more money on the likes of Hazard and Lucas Moura. I am sure that Martinez will offer something to the team and make us better, but I am not so confident on him justifying such a price.

But yeah, let's wait until someone confirms it. :P

Only winning the CL might marginally justify that price.

Yes pretty much, with him being a main player. Gustavo is a great player and he could be better.

We have to sign either Song or Martinez, I want Gustavo to have some competition, or else he's only going to get worse. He needs to know that he needs to be at his very best in order to play in Bayern.

Same with Kroos!

Competition for places can only be a good thing.

Bielsa showing his cool and calm temperament again. Eh, I don't know what he thinks he can achieve anyway. Bilbao have no power over the deal should we cough up the 40 mil, simple as that.

El Mundo states that Javi 'has no interest in going to Bayern' despite the claims made by his agent, and is angling for a move to Barca instead (i think? Google translate sucks, and El Mundo Deportivo is known for their Barca bias)

Wrong. Bilbao cannot legally refuse an offer of 40 from Barcelona, but they are free to refuse an offer of 40 from Bayern. The release clause is only valid for Spanish clubs.

In fact the release clause must be payed by the player and you have to add taxes, but there is like an unwritten law so the club offers the same amount of money than the release clause and the other club accepts it

This is why I hate transfer windows, all the rumours drive me nuts. Some people love it though.
