I fixed it.

I respect our legends but they cannot play more than 30 minutes. We need new players that can make the difference for 90 minutes week in, week out. Of course, our board won't get the players we need.

Ribery is an absolute club legend. I remember how excited I was watching him rip Bremen to shreds in one of his earliest Bayern matches, and then the first glimpse of greatness when Ribery and Robben came off the bench to finish off the 3-0 win against Wolfsburg.

However, all good things must come to an end. IMO - it's time for Ribery to be benched and either a) released when his contract runs out or, b) sold in January. In 6 matches he has 1 assist and 1 goal. Both came against 3rd division Chemnitzer. He is disrupting team chemistry, and is taking home a hefty salary. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem ready to gracefully transition into a super-sub role, but rather still sees himself as the permanent starter unless he needs rest. This will cause performance problems for the team in the short-term while Ribery is on the pitch under-performing, and long-term as it will hinder the development of players like Kingsley Coman.

It's time for Ribery to take a page out of Lahm's book and ride into the sunset while you are still the hero.

Ribery is pushing for a new contract.

"I will be 35 years old in April. But it's amazing how well I can play when I'm healthy. That's important to me.

"I also work a lot privately. Gym, swimming pool - I have everything at home. I can do everything in peace and concentration. I have worked really well both at Bayern and at home. That's why I came back at a really good level." [source]

Really? Amazing? Who is amazed, exactly?

I would say the opposite. It is amazing how such a brilliant player has declined so much so quickly. Age is a factor obviously but he has been declining for quite a few years.

His peak was in 2013. He should've won the Ballon d'Or back then. It was all downhill from there.

He's a winger and age hits wingers and b2b players much more than others. Maybe only fullbacks come third.

Kicker | Franck Ribéry doesn't want to wait longer to clarify his future and get a new contract at Bayern. The Frenchman urges a quick decision and plans a conversation with Bayern bosses in the next few days and especially with Uli Hoeneß.

Eternal gratitude to Franck Ribery but either he accepts 1-year renewal as a bench player with no complaints or Goodbye la légende.

Kicker - For Franck Ribery, there are two offers from other clubs. He is disappointed that Bayern have hesitated to talk to him about renewing his contract, and Ribery is seriously considering other offers.

Well, childish behavior is nothing that we've never seen from him... I'm eternally grateful for Frooooonck and what he did for this club, he will always be a legend... That said, if he doesn’t realize his obvious decline, his childish attitude might actually serve us well for a change in that we may FINALLY move on despite Hoeness slowing us down...

Pretty much how I feel.
I love Franck, and if he'd shown ANY indication whatsoever that he'd be okay in a reduced/substitute role, I wouldn't have a problem keeping him on.
But he hasn't shown that at all. He still believes he's the undisputed starter game in, game out.
That's not gonna work.

Reports in Saudi Arabia are strongly linking Franck Ribery with a stunning move to Ittihad Jeddah next season. [LaPresse]
