Dele Alli [Bamidele Jermaine Alli]

Postby MUTU » Wed Aug 27, 2014 1:16 pm

FC Bayern have reportedly sent a scout to watch Milton Keynes Dons' 18 year old central midfield starlet Dele Alli during yesterday's English League Cup match against Manchester United, which MK Dons surprisingly won 4-0. Alli, who has represented England at U17 and U18 levels, has been dubbed by the media as "the new Steven Gerrard". [source]

New Steven Gerrard? World football doesn't need another slippery failure.

So you reduce a guy's excellent career to one unfortunate event? Very unfair for a guy who scored a goal and won a penalty in one of the most historic Champions League finals of all time.

I find this rumor a bit hard to believe. I think our standards would require us sending scouts to somewhere a bit more important than the English 3rd division. Plus, if he is a great talent then I would have expected a couple of EPL's top teams to approach him before we do so ourselves. That is just judging by the book cover. I don't know if there are more details into this issue.

We did get Dale Jennings from the same division not too long ago. Also, the scouts were reportedly at the English League Cup match played yesterday against Manchester United. Liverpool have been tracking this guy for a while.

To be honest I think The Telegraph are just overblowing it. I wouldn't be surprised if we're interested but it'll only be for FCB II.

True. What I mean is that there's nothing weird in wanting a player from England's third division to play in Germany's fourth division. ;)

"the new Steven Gerrard" pairing with Alonso, how does it sound? They made arguably the best midfield pairing in the PL, at the time. There's Reina too. Not sure if Rafa Benitez or Pep.

Once again we're linked to Dele Alli, again by The Telegraph. [source]

He has played under English youth NT. Don't know about his family background.

“When I lived with my mother, I nearly got kicked out of school. I went to Stantonbury [Campus]. I was getting in a bit of trouble. The mates I was with before got into difficult places. What happened to them is a motivation to me. I don’t want to go back to there. I want to go as far as I can and be successful as I can.” Backed by the club, Alli made a difficult but ultimately vindicated decision. “I moved away [from home]. It was time for me to start afresh. So I moved in with a family.’’
