I think atm Gotze is better because he has played at a high level longer than Shaqiri who started out playing in the Swiss League and only started playing regular UCL football when he came to Bayern. Unlike Gotze who has been schooling some great teams for a while now.....

While Shaq was 'only' playing in Switzerland before joining Bayern, Basel played in the CL the last three (?.. at least two) seasons before he moved. And Shaq (arguably) singlehandedly destroyed Man U two seasons ago (?) in said competition. Granted Basel still lost on aggregate if my memory isn't completely failing me, but he has been playing at a high level for a while. I feel that since he was in Switzerland, his talent was overlooked to a certain extent, and that in a team like Dortmund (God forbid I say it) he would excel. I just hope his development at Bayern isn't stunted too much by Ribery and/or Robben. People keep talking about him as a replacement for Ribery but I would much rather see him on the RW, with his rocket launcher of a left foot he reminds of Robben. Though he does have a good right foot also.. Back to the point though, I think he is ready to show his true colors, if only given the chance.

It was the group stage, but I don't think they did. I think it was a draw and a win.

against Man Utd they drew first game 3-3 (last minute equalizer from Young) and won second game 2-1.

Even better! I hope he gets some serious playing time on either/both wings this season.

On the left wing, he is "not Ribéry." On the right, however, he is extremely versatile to say the least. I would push Robben to the other side and keep him on RW. Hell, CL finals is the best example at how we need a better RW than wrong-footed-nomorecannonballs Robben i.e.

I see Robben's future as a "free role" player, thanks to his ridiculous pace and technique. But that's a role that would've suited the direct latter-days style of Jupp, not Pep right now (and this has nothing to do with passing or whatever). Shaq, I agree, is a far more multi-dimensional option on the right winger slot.

Schalke 04 are now after Shaqiri as a replacement for Michel Bastos! This is not speculation, Horst Heldt himself admitted that he has already spoken to Sammer about this possibility. [source]

Everyone wants our players...
the board has to stand up and announce that the squad is finalized... no body is leaving and no body is coming...

What the hell are we going to have just 15 players?
