Shaq has been in great form with NT lately, and he's been pretty decent with Bayern. He didn't show his heights yet, but he was by no means a weak link in the games he featured in. Just like Martinez, he needs some more time to adjust, and that would probably be till after the winter break. But just like Martinez, he should be getting somehow equal times on the pitch to start building chemistry.

One thing I've noticed about Shaqiri is that he doesn't play to his potentials when fielded alongside Kroos. Shaq cannot play the Ribery role, as he is more comfortable moving to the center rather than out wide, and that overlaps with Kroos' role. Shaq's best performances came when he was the CAM playing alongside Ribery and Muller. That's just some food for thought :)

Actually, I haven't seen anyone else mention this but for most of the first half yesterday Shaqiri was drifting to the centre with Kroos on the right wing. I kinda liked that... Kroos was giving good diagonal passes to Shaq/Muller/Mandzu. It was also during this time in which we were in control of the game, and should have scored at least another goal.

Yeah, but in the second half, Kroos went missing, and that effectively killed our left attacking side. Plus, Kroos is just an average performer when it comes to the winger role. Shaqiri needs to have Ribery or Muller on the left wing, or even Alaba, in order to show his more potential. I guess he also needs his time to get more used to his teammates and accommodate his game play accordingly, which we shouldn't expect before the winter break.

P.S. I am by no means saying that Shaqiri must bench Kroos :P No one should bench Kroos at the moment. I'm just pointing out an observation regarding the duo.

When I think about it you are right i did notice Shaqiri play centrally and this was not the first game. I wouldnt mind if Jupp would play Shaqiri as an AM more often he looked very comfortable there in the preseason when Kroos was playing CM.

Shaqiri's still a young player, he's still developing. He's got the potential to play in any position along that line. But he needs game time to develop.

And he often warms the bench. Müller always has advantage over him on the right wing.

He will be much more confident and brilliant when he gets more minutes.

Some journalist got a picture of Shaqiri getting ready to get off the Bayern bench to be subbed in during the Gladbach game.

Yes I stole this joke from the guardian buli blog, but I have no shame!

It's interesting to note that Shaqiri took both of them on while holding a plastic bottle in his right hand :)

Ribery doesn't like to be kept out of bullying actions, so he just had to stick his nose in there :P
