What I wanted to say is that we won't sell Shaqiri as long as we have serious doubts about Franck Ribéry's back condition. Ilkay Gündogan apparently had a similar injury and look how long he's been missing. We certainly won't risk having to replace two left wingers this summer.

The thing is, even if Ribery cannot play, will it be Shaqiri who replaces him? Probablly Gotze and Muller are ahead of him in Pep's preferences.

Yes, Xherdan Shaqiri was Pep Guardiola's preferred choice when Franck Ribéry was injured. Mario Götze only played left winger when the Swiss international was injured.

When you compare their performance data on transfermarkt.de

Götze: http://www.transfermarkt.de/mario-gotze ... eler/74842

Shaqiri: http://www.transfermarkt.de/xherdan-sha ... eler/86792

You realize that Götze played LW only when Shaqiri was injured OR when Shaqiri had just returned from an injury.

Thomas Müller on the other hand is a shitty left winger which is why he isn't a serious option. Furthermore we cannot rely on another completely injury free season of Arjen Robben (I do not count the flesh wound from that Augsburg keeper's assault as a typical injury). Expecting such would be naive.

Unless Shaqiri strongly pushes a move I expect us to keep him until 2015 anyway which will allow us to weigh our options with Marco Reus and Julian Draxler. However I can't see us agreeing to a move, especially for 15M, if Ribéry's entire first half of the 2014/15 season is questioned.

Wow, Raketa will definitely leave Sevilla this summer and start earning round 6 mil €/year. 2.5 mil is a misery.

I wish I had that misery wage. :P

Don't think so. If he leaves for the PL, Liverpool would be his destination. Can't see him joining either of the 3 you mentioned, but I reckon he might stay this season and try and prove himself to Pep. Injuries really hampered him this year.

In theory yes, but what if Shaq had his mind set on leaving and really don't want to stay. On the other hand this might just trigger the potential we all hope he can fulfill. I feel pretty confident that he will get a lot of playing time since he is our only proper choice on the LW while the others will be more in rotation up front. But then again i really can't read Pep's mind and more often than not i have been surprised by his selections this past season, for the most part with success.

Great news for the club - yes!, great news for Shaq - maybe/maybe not.

My point being...... I don't really know? I just read what i had written and rarely have i seen such a schizophrenic and contradictory post. Sorry for wasting your time.

If it were up to me, which it unfortunately isn't, I wouldn't keep Shaq for the sole purpose of replacing Ribery in case the latter does not recover in time.
a) Get Lavezzi
if not a) then b)
b) Throw Green into the cold water, if it doesn't perform then play Goetze as LW

-> Problem solved
