I just realized that this is now 2 years in a row where Thiago has bailed us out and kept us in the CL. Porto and now Juve, if that's not the definition of a big game player I don't know what is. He deserves all of his success at the club and I hope he stays for a long long time. He just looks so happy here. After the final whistle he looked like he was in tears

Yup. He's definitely overcome that stigma and proven he's one of us. Absolutely love him.

We must resist the temptation of playing him every match..we keep forgetting how injury prone he is..

He was in tears after both Leverkusen (final penalty, remember?) and Porto.

Barcelona: Got injured, club wanted to ship him out as quickly as they can and even sold him for peanuts.

Bayern: Got injured, everyone in the club and their mother wait patiently for him and give him chances to prove himself.

That had to mean a lot to him. Not only is he our player but he's also one of us now.

You would sell Ribery, Robben and Javi Martinez for peanuts?

Ribery and Robben are the best pair of wingers the history of football has given. If Messi, Maradona or Ronaldo have evolved their positions, so Robbery as inverted wingers also did.

Bayern can buy players for replace them while they are not fit, as they did by signing Costa and Coman, but no way we will sell Robbery for peanuts.

No, why would I want to sell any of those guys? I don't understand your post.

He was not sold for peanuts... Nothing under his real value according to transfermarkt.

Have we not gotten to the point yet where we realize transfermarkt is one level above useless? Thiago is far more valuable to us than transfermarkt recognizes he is.

No but tell me that Thiago was worth 80M as a 20 year old... And he was playing a lot at Barca so he was totally worth 80M. Was he playing in that game against us that we gave Barca a thrashing? I forgot...

That was his release clause, not his value. Also different.

Here's how exchanges work. The seller has a price they value their item for sale at. If the buyer values the commodity more than that price a sale is made. Either Barca was lazy or they didn't value Thiago more than 20 million. That's THEIR value. Bayern purchased Thiago so OUR value was more. Then there is the MARKET value that Transfermarkt ESTIMATES the general market Thiago would go for. By general market we assume all actors in the market are pretty much uniform. Which they aren't but it's normally good enough for estimation purposes. See how it works now?
