I look forward to his return. If he can fully recover and remain injury free, he has a lot to offer Bayern. When everyone returns, I see both Alcantara and Schweinsteiger playing further forward. The defensive midfield will have Alonso, Lahm, Alaba, Rode, Martinez and, possibly, Hojbjerg. No worries there. The central attacking midfield has Goetze, Mueller (sometimes) and, possibly, Shaqiri. There is room for improvement there. I think that Alcantara and Schweinsteiger are the most capable for playing further forward, and hence the most likely candidates.

I wasn't too enthusiastic with his transfer, but that changed since his very early games in Bayern. He'll be very important for us. Calling him a flop is pointless and stupid IMO

Thiago--Schweinsteiger is what we were all hoping for right after the World Cup =P~ I also think it could be great.

The only negative is that they may need time to build up that partnership on the field because they haven't played too many games together IIRC

I'm delighted to see someone else recognising his potential. I saw him in two U21 championships, where he was arguably the best player in both, and won that award in the second. Effectively, he hasn't done much wrong at Bayern, other than pick up a long-term injury. He is still an exceptional talent.

I wouldn't be expecting that partnership anytime soon, though I would like to see it sometime. For the remainder of this season, they are more likely to be part of a pool of 4-5 central attacking midfielders, along with Goetze and Mueller, when Bayern play 4 across the attacking midfield. (I'm expecting some 3-2-4-1 that accommodates that.)

I'm quite sure that very, very few of us would consider him a flop.

Calling him a flop now is definitively premature, but if he were to pick up another injury.... Let's hope not.

For now, we can just agree that has had a very rocky start..
