Happy New Year to y'all.

I hope Lewandowski doesn't regret having been whining for a back up striker.

If Wagner comes in and does a better job at standing his ground against CBs unlike Lewan who gets pushed around a lot without a considerable retribution in the form of penalties like Muller did some 3 or 4 years ago; Wagner might just get the support he's looking for in important games.

I believe that Wagner will bring us a different type of game.
Our skillful midfielders can use him as a target. Playing with his back facing the goal he will be able to play the ball back to them so they can launch lethal attacks and first time shots

Sounds like he very well may be starting vs Leverkusen to kick off the Rückrunde as apparently Lewy is still a doubt for it.

Is he cup tied for the CL games? I know he played in the CL playoffs for Hoffenheim against Liverpool.

No. Champions League qualification doesn't count for the purpose of being cup tied.

What about EL group stage? Does that Cup tie players?

I heard somewhere that Alexis might not be able to feature in the CL for Citeh if they sign him this month (hopefully Not!) because he played for Arsenal in the EL in the home fixture against Cologne.

For our purposes, no. A player who plays in group stages of the Europa League is technically cup-tied in the knockout stages of both the Champions League and the Europa league, but we're allowed to add one cup-tied player to our Champions League squad for the knockout stages as long as he didn't play in the Champions League. Wagner will be able to play in the CL for us and Sanchez should be able to play for City/United/Liverpool/Chelsea/Real/Barcelona/fictional team that the Sun came up with in order to create a transfer link with.

If you want to learn more, you can look at UEFA regulations about player eligibility themselves under Articles 42 through 44

I've been quite impressed with his hold up play, passing, and work rate in his first couple appearances for us. In those aspects(although obviously not in goal scoring ability) I would say he's better than Lewandowski.

Only cause Lewa is sluggish lately...
Wagner is a decent addition, but not an actual contender for first 11

Sandro Wagner: This goal means a lot to me. I'm at home here, I used to stand in the Südkurve myself. I'm so happy.I'm well aware of my role at the club. The coach knows that I want to play. We will have 3 games a week in the upcoming weeks and the coach told me that I will start some games.Julian Nagelsmann is a big talent who will make his own way. He is a great coach. Jupp Heynckes has won many trophies and has already had a great career.
