Everyone is thinking in different way, but i respect him saying that day or two after the squad was announced. I also would be disappointed if they pick Petersen in front of me. What he has done better than Wagner? Sandro always performed well when given the opportunity.

Sorry, this is how you do it. There is not much to talk after his statement. He sit like a man and said, I'm not going to play for Germany anymore. And that's it. No further drama, no "if's", no more bullshit.

A man would shut up and keep trying, if it means that much to him.

I still don't understand what there is to respect in his statement. He showed a giver-up attitude, bigtime. On the contrary, I lost respect for him. I'd have respected him if he said something like: "I'm really sad about not being chosen. I will try try harder than ever before and give Loew no option but to select me for EURO 2020."

That's not the complete statement. He literally says on Instagramm:

"I hereby retire from the National Team effective immediately".

He even goes as far as saying he only wishes the best "for his boys" in Russia, deliberately not mentioning the staff or the coaching team.

Thanks. I edited my post because I had seen the full post. What a loser attitude.

Since he loves Bayern and he is ready to fight for us is enough for me...

What should he say seeing Petersen above him? Not to mention Mario Gomez whom I have a big respect for but he is not the same anymore.

To me he sounds like the kid at table who asks for desert before the main course, gets turned down by his parents and storms off saying "then I don't want to eat anything ever again". As early as September 2018, the UEFA Nations League will start and he wants to take no part in it because he wants to cry in the corner as the national coach did him a boo-boo.

And now look at this situation... he ain't called-up for the World Cup, not even on the expanded, preliminary list for Russia 18'. :) A powerful punch in da face. :o

What happens? Tears in the eyes and a huuuuuuuuuuge disappointment.

He thought that playing Ibra mode on social media would pay but I think all that that boastful talk was counterproductive.
I never liked his B.S. talk, even on Kovac's nomination there was the quote that he never heard it maybe he was in the toilet....
Maybe he should have tried setting up a photo-shoot with Erdogan  and then maybe he would have been called.

What if both Gomez and Peterson got injured? He would have probably called him. Now he would either choose someone else or another midfielder.

Or can a manager choose a player for the final selection not included in the preliminary squad besides the exceptions to injuries?

Agreed with your post though. It's what I thought. But anyway he should have been looking forward to the opening match of the UEFA Nations League in his home city against France. It's only three and a half months away.

I wasn't sure if it was an e or an o and I didn't feel like looking it up. :)

This is a huge tactical error from the manager. While we’ll still score kicks and headers, we have limited options for scoring dick goals in our squad.

A real man, our Sandro. Always sticking to his word.

He DID accept it, didn’t he? He just takes action accordingly...

Definitely not. He'd be 34 at the 2022 World Cup, 2 years younger than Klose was at the last World Cup.
