He extended because at his age that's the best option for him. This is his last big contract

If Lewy were 25 y.o he would not have extended his contract.

A conclusion obviously too difficult to draw for some people here...

Best option for him? You do realize that if he wanted (and he somehow convinced Bayern to let him go) he would have gotten a better salary in England or Spain, right?

You make it sound like he had no options whatsoever. Its Robert Lewandowski we are talking here, not Morata or Higuain. IF he wanted to go - he could get his apparent last big contract way more paid in England. He is 30 FFS. Man. United would've paid 40% more on top of what we're going to pay him for this new contract.

But - clearly money isnt the only thing on his head.

Again, falling short of thinking it through...

Bayern DON'T want to let him go... He has a running contract and would easily cost 90-100m at Bayern‘s valuation... Now no one is gonna pay that...
Next year at almost 32, with one year left, he’ll still be at around 50 - doubtful...
So he could play a gamble in 2021 and go to some club on a free... Or play it safe and extend at Bayern where he is settled and got a good shot at a domestic double every year...
It’s not JUST money, it barely ever is, but if anyone thinks, it’s about big things (plural even!) happening, he’s way beyond delusional!

I can think of at least 5 teams that would sign (if Bayern want him gone) Robert Lewandowski for +100mil on Monday, first thing in the morning.

Your negativity and hate of everything Bayern is just blinding. You're wearing like those dog cones, so your "points" about being realistic and everybody else is just delusional that you try to sell in your posts are just irrelevant.

edit - And I can think of 10 more teams (make that 15 total ATLEAST) that would sign Robert Lewandowski in 2020 for 50m minimum.

You keep thinking and dreaming and at the end of the window you'll probably tell me the shot we’re gonna get is WC...

Nobody wanted him for 100+ in the past and now they do? Sure

If Lewandowski knew about "big things", why wouldn’t Neuer and his agent? Or Kimmich?
They’re all not happy... probably because of all of the WC players we signed...

Robert did not have release clause in his contract and that was RL9 (and his agents) big mistake against ego of U. Hoennes.
Even today, top clubs would queue in the line for 30 y.o. Lewandowski with 100+M tag.
Actually, I would be pleased if Robert goes back to Dortmund (like Hummels or Goetze), there are bigger chances for any trophies with Borussia than with Bayern.

I criticize Bayern a lot but even if we sold every single first team player, fired all the staff except Uli, and let him form a new team of Bayern II players and 20 mil “record transfers” who can play there, those sore losers from Dortmund would still have to fight for it.

Are you delusional or something?
First you speak in a future tense, than you give stats from a past tense.

It's like saying Boateng would win less trophies at City and than give his Bayern stats and trophies.
