Interesting that he's backing himself to last another 5-7 years. I wouldn't immediately oppose it since he's one of the rarer, Zlatan-like physical specimens in football. Also means he'll get the chance to break more records and we get more time to groom a successor.

That is how spoiled I've been with Lewy as CF - his goals are not pretty enough for me. But numbers speak for themselves he has broken numerous records and now sits #4 and just 3 goals behind Thomas Muller in 3rd place all time goal scorer. Lewy will surpass Muller this season most likely and if he extends his contract may even become #2 all time. No small feat, ergo, I tip my hat and take a bow.

No 'pretty goals'? Yeah, he scores tap-ins mostly, but regularly scores goals other players would probably break their legs if they'd attempt to replicate it. Just look at that goal against BMG. Also his header yesterday was class too..

You fellas misunderstood - this season he is a tap in specialist. And yes that glancing header was quite impressive. But dammit this year he just lacks that extra spice or creativity if you will. Take for instance last game that situation where he had Hummels begging for the pass at the edge of the box and instead Lewy went for it himself and missed the net on the left corner. Previous seasons that would've gone in. But this year he is just a little bit off.

Robert Lewandowski

Mixture of both. And if you don't consider Benfica a top team you have to go back to Juve if I'm not mistaken.

IIRC he has not bagged an assist in a UCL KO game in that span, either. A lot of folks have been saying "look at the rate he's assisting at this year", so I think that's a relevant consideration, too.

I'm of a mixed mind on the issue, though. I don't blame Lewy for our loss but at the same time I think it's reasonable to ask for more. I don't expect him to score or assist in every single big match - very few can do that - but seven games without getting on the scoresheet should raise some questions, I think. Like I said yesterday - what's the longest Robben went without finding the scoresheet?
It's not necessarily all on Lewy - but the production needs to come from somewhere. If Lewy isn't going to be that game-changing big-game player that's alright, but then we need someone to step up and do it. not sure who that is at the moment.

Lewandowski is best in open space :: Reus/Lewandowski/Gotze sprinting down the pitch.

Bayern walks the ball down forcing him to stand in a crowd waiting for a cross. Probably better suited with a tall target man with a big forehead. Lewandowski's skill set is wasted here.

He scored a brace against Besiktas last year and received the foul that got Vida sent off as well

The first one was a blatant uncalled penalty.
