"FC Bayern Munich have been tied to Marco Friedl, a long-term player. The 18-year-old signed a license player contract with a term from 01.07.2017 to 30.06.2021. The U19 national player of Austria is currently still a member of the A-Juniors of the FC Bayern. In recent weeks, he has been training regularly with the professionals of the record champion. Also the training camp in Doha at the beginning of the year the defensive specialist with the team of Chefcoach Carlo Ancelotti.

"We are delighted to have linked Marco Friedl to FC Bayern in the long term. He has shown outstanding achievements in our up-and-coming teams and has also proved himself in the training of the pros. We trust him to get through with FC Bayern, "explained co-coach Hermann Gerland. "The latest sporting developments and especially the results of the U19 and U17 show that we are on the right path with our young talents," continued Gerland."

Congratulations to Marco Friedl for his first professional contract until 2021 ! Always nice to see our young talent signing for many years :)

Now I have a question. What if Bayern was planning to sell Bernat (who according to media is followed by other clubs and who want to be starter) and using Friedl as Alaba's back-up ?

I don't ask to sell Bernat but if he has to leave, it would be a great solution in intern. Time for the club to use our talent if possible instead of buying back-up. Sometimes it's impossible. Sometimes it is possible.
Neuer (Ulreich)
Kimmich (Rafinha) - Süle(Martinez) - Hummels (Boateng) - Alaba (Rafinha)
Goretzka(Tolisso) - Thiago (Sanches)
Robben (Gnabry) - James (Müller) - Coman (Ribéry)
Lewandowski (Wagner)

Great for the kid! Really hope he can push through and become a member of the first team.

Tbh, I also immediately thought of the Bernat rumours, and it seems like a logical solution. Although it would mean that we might have two very young wingbacks starting if (God forbid) Alaba gets injured at some point next season. Not to mention that I think we'll upgrade Fruchtl as well, to either third or second goalkeeper.

Interesting for a player who's still playing for the U19s. Sounds like the new Benko / Dorsch kind of guy, hope I'm proven wrong.

Trained with them all week, which is surprising as everyone is currently fit...means they definitely see something in him. Only Friedl and Fruchtl from our youth trained with the profs this week. Or maybe it was just 'Names starting with F and ending with L' week at Bayern. :coffee:

For me it was quite good. He made some mistakes but that's normal for a debut. He needs more experience and confidence which will come in the future ofc. I think "considering his only 19" he's quite promising. At least I can say he did less back pass to Sven than Kimmich did lol.

I think he was pretty good too. Didn't set the world on fire or anything and admittedly most of their attacks came down his side...but for a debut it was pretty good IMO

I liked his passion and the way he protested when he was fouled and the idiot in yellow played play on (it was before when Lewa was fouled and Boa booked for protesting)
He had an OK performance, it was his debut in an away match.
So a 6.5 vote vindicates his performance
