he completed: " We will discuss the situation in winter..."

he also said : "I know what he can do ,but he must also retrieve it. "

You all guys are forgetting one really important factor here, marketing..

Poldi is huge in here and, he has alot of fans (mainly because of his national team performances), so thats a huge factor in making the decision. (Same applys for Schweini)

Lukas Podolski puts Europe's top clubs on alert
Poldi: "I want to leave Bayern Munich in January!"

Germany star Lukas Poldolski has issued a "come and get me" plea to Europe's top clubs after handing in a transfer request to Bayern Munich.

The Star of the World Cup 2006 has had a difficult spell at the Bundesliga champions and has never managed to hold down a place in the starting line up.

Although Bayern's general manager Uli Hoeness has insisted that no players will be leaving in the January transfer window, Podi has other plans.

He told to BILD: “I have already decided that I will change team in the winter. I have already told the club that I want to leave.”

Despite being a regular under Jogi Loew in the German national side, Podolski has played very little football for Bayern and has again spent most of the season on the bench.

Rumours that the club are after fellow German international striker Mario Gomez from Stuttgart, having already brought in US forward Landon Donovan on loan, have made up Poldi’s mind that his future lies elsewhere.

Manchester City, supposedly now the world's richest team, and Premier League strugglers Tottenham Hotspur are both reportedly interested in the €15 million-rated player, whose contract runs until 2010, and now look likely to step up their interest in January.

-------------
Finally this whole nightmare seems to be over , finally he stopped beating around the bush , he spoke out loud and clearly , they should let him go as soon as possible , I never considered him a real Bayern player to be honest , he never gave it all for this club , just a huge dissapointment.Ciao Prinz "I'll cry if they dont let me move" Podolski.

THIS COULD BE A DISASTER! I am very concerned about this Poldi situation. If he does leave at the Winter, and our only replacement is Donovan, we became weaker as a team. We do need to get another striker! Toni is getting older, and has gotten some little injuries there and there, and Klose (Also injured often) can easily go in a scoring drought again! Do you feel comfortable with Donovan? Wow! I certainly do not! Don't forget, our schedule is very intense, with the Bundesliga(which is a tight race this year) and the Champions League (which we are probably going through). and the cup of course. Don't forget about the players schedule during this ridiculous game scheduling, with the WC Qual and all.

But, I agree Poldi has been a bit disappointing. But Donovan? I just hope they know what they are doing!

There's no way he's leaving in the winter. Donovan is a gamble, and he's a gamble that might only be staying until March, leaving us with 3 months of season where we'll absolutely need AT LEAST Poldi as a backup. Who knows, if he shuts up and plays some damn football he could even be a starter by then. If not, good riddance in the summer, when we can find a suitable and not cup-tied replacement. NO ONE just waltzes into the Bayern first XI, especially not by bitching constantly. Let's just do cash + Donovan for Poldi, MAYBE he could get into LA Galaxy's starting XI.

What has Poldi done this season , or better said during his whole spell at Bayern to make us strong as a team ?
I agree that he cant leave without a replacement but I dont agree that the Podolski - Donovan switch would neccessarily make us weaker as a team , cause I think that Landon will at least give it all , playing worse than Poldi is a really hard task for any professional and serious football player , I think a disaster would be if they'd keep him against his will at the club cause in that case he would just add disturbance to the squad , I'll change my phrase "he can leave as soon as possible" into "he can leave as soon as we find a decent replacement" that is willing to strengthen our team in the WP , this replacement in an optimal case would be an attacker that can also play as a RM or RA , but he really should leave to the club that offers most cause keeping him doesnt make sense.
Maybe the 2 guys from the reserves Muller and Yilmaz would be worth a thought as well if they really dont manage to get a decent replacement for Poldi.
But this is still very hypothetical , he hasnt left yet and no club has officialy made an offer for him either.

Klinsmann declared today at the press conference ahead of the CL match that nothing changed for him and the other officials after Poldi declaring his desire to leave in the WP , he said that they wanna get into the 2nd part of the season with 4 strikers , one of these strikers being Podolski.

Well to tell you truth i think Klinsi and the board have been unreasonable here, i understand that poldi has a contract till 2010, but the guy just wants out, i dont think we should keep him against his wishes its bad for the club and the player.

This was a problem waiting to happen im just surprised it took this long. There is no other team in Europe that have three full international strikers from top euro countries fighting for only 2 places, not even chelsea or real Madrid who are known of buying players and benching them

Poldi, Klose and Toni are from two of the best football nations in the world and they are automatic starters in the national teams, they expect to start at least 50% of the matches for the club they play for. If toni or klose were in poldi's shoes they would demand their release too, and if we are gonna get Gomez and treat him the same way we are treating Poldi he will be acting the same way too.
The solution is simple, we have two top strikers (toni, and Klose), so we should buy some young talented back up, or a second tier striker who would be happy just to be at a big team(like Donovan).

Man.City , Eyes on Podolski

Manchester City is interested in Bayern Munchen's striker Lukas Podolski. The player seems close to leave Germany and the english team seems in pole position to engage the young striker.

I do not think that Donovan will be happy to be at a big team to warm the bench, that's the first reason why he left Bayern Leverkusen for the The Galaxy when he was a second choice for Central Offensive Midfielder after Robson Ponte; and also as we discussed before Donovan is not being brought as a fourth striker, he is going to be used as an Offensive mid in Klinsmann's own words.

But I fully agree with you on the rest of the post, keeping Poldi if he is not getting playing time, performing at his level or unhappy is not good for Poldi and not good for the team. Poldi is reaching that age when he needs to move on if there is not space for him to break through, like Jan Schlaudraff. I do not know where that young player that can be reliable is, even Podolski who is still young is not reliable for Bayern anymore, we had Sandro Wagner coming from our reserve and we got rid off him maybe because Bayern thought he did not have the potential, but we need that 3rd striker for the games when Toni and Klose are not available, we also need a fourth striker it can be an old one who can have it for 10 to 20 minutes to finish a game, but if Poldi leaves and there is no replacement and Klisnsmann has to deal with Toni or Klose being out he can play one striker and two offensive mids on the flanks, like Ribery on the left and Donovan on the right, or even Borowski who has shown some offensive power for Bayern.

Its a shame we haven't nourished his talent, the one thing Bayern are bad at. I hope he satys, but if he doesn't at least leave for more than 25 million Euros. Then we can buy a better player, possibly a young striker, who would help Bayern more.

Podolski Can Leave For €15M - Beckenbauer

Prinz Poldi looks to be closer to a Bayern Munich exit as Franz Beckenbauer names his price for the forward...

Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer has all but sanctioned the sale of Lukas Podolski after slapping a €15 million price-tag on the forward's head.

Der Kaiser also admitted that 'Poldi' does not fit in with the team's style of play.

The 23-year-old Germany international has cut a frustrated figure on the fringes of the FC Hollywood side this season, as manager Jurgen Klinsmann persists with a strike partnership of Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni.

Despite enjoying an excellent rapport with the player while in charge of the German national team, Klinsmann has had to relegate the erstwhile golden boy of the Bundesliga to the bench at the Allianz Arena.

Podolski has admitted that he wants to leave the club in the near future in order to play regular football, with former club Koln, Manchester City, and Roma all seemingly heading the queue for his signature.

A transfer could come sooner rather than later with Beckenbauer's admission that FC Bayern will accept a bid of €15 million for the Polish-born forward.

He told Bild: “Everything in life has its price.

“Two and a half years ago, we paid €10 million. Now, the fee is €15 million.

“You cannot keep a professional if he is unhappy, on the bench, and not playing.

“Poldi does not quite fit into our way of playing. He is a top-class striker when he has space in front of him as he has the pace to run clear.

“But the teams we play against are usually very defensive, so we need players who can get into the penalty area – Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni in particular.”

I totally 100% agree with this point poldi is one of the top strikers in the world its our style that doesnt fit him, although i think he will make a great behind strikers player because in that position he will have the space he needs to run and create.

Köln To Pull Out All The Stops For Podolski
The Cologne club say they will stop at nothing to rescue their favourite child from his nightmare at Bavarian nightmare.
1 FC Köln supremo Wolfgang Overath has left absolutely no doubt as to how determined they are to bring Lukas Podolski back to the Rhein Energie Stadion.

Although the head honcho's in Munich have stated repeatedly that 'Prinz Poldi' will not be leaving the club this winter, the youngster remains third in the Bayern pecking order when it comes to the strike department and has voiced his discontent on more than one occasion.

A high-profile move to another big European club is being mooted, but evidently there is also a high chance of a return to the club where he first made his name at, and where he is still treated as a demi-god despite switching allegiances.

"We will do everything and that means everything within our means to bring the lad back home," vowed Overath.

"We have been doing our homework."

The Cologne club's general manager Michael Meier underscored their commitment to bring the prodigal son back home by confirming that they have already initiated talks with Bayern and would not close the door on a sensational winter swoop.
