Perhaps he, like I guess most if not all of us here, doesn't have faith he will be able to reach his former level

OK, the pass that I am referring to was in the EURO 2012 qualifier vs Kazakstan, it is the first one in this compilation (insane by any standard):

He's missed 1121 of 2555 days since 10/11 season due to injures.
If we narrow the window only in game space..it's looking bad.

It's one of the most typical follow-up injuries after ACL surgeries. In fact, I think he already had one at Bayern in his quad.

How is he doing at Stuttgart? I haven't watched any of his games.

I haven't watched any of his matches either, but a quick look at WhoScored tells me he won MOTM twice out of 6 appearances (one of which as a sub) and has a WhoScored rating of 7.0, which is the 5th highest average rating in Stuttgart's squad.

I wonder, if he keeps up his recovery to form, coupled with hypothetical injuries to a couple of German central defenders, if he'd stand an outside chance of making it to the World Cup squad.

On short sight he would have to climb a steep ladder. Long gone are the days of Bads vs Mats. Nowadays he would have to compete against Boateng and the wardrobe. In case he manages to survive that, all he needs is for Barza to snatch Tah to see his chances gone imho.

He would need to be fast though to take a chance on the sides again.

Difficult, as Süle definitely looks set on his way to Russia apart from the usual faces.

Tayfun Korkut, VfB Stuttgart manager, has played Badstuber as a central midfielder in the last two matches, and he's played well with WhoScored ratings of 7.34 and 7.1. Stuttgart play at 3.30pm today and Badstuber is expected to play again as a central midfielder.

Yes, he was. That's why he is a Stuttgart player who fights to avoid relegation zone.
