09.10.1985 - Prof. Dr. Fritz Scherer becomes the new president of FC Bayern Munich. His presidency lasted from 1985 to 1994. After his term of office, he was vice-president of Bayern until 2012.

Fritz Scherer (born 16 February 1940) is an emeritus professor of business administration at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences. He gained prominence as a long-standing president (1985 to 1994) and vice-president (1994 to 2012) of FC Bayern Munich.


Scherer played in the football club BC Augsburg during the youth days. He held a position as managing director in the meat products company Rudolf Houdeks. From 1979 to 1985 Scherer was treasurer at FC Bayern Munich. In the following years, he succeeded Willi O. Hoffmann as President of the Association; During his term of office FC Bayern became the record champions in 1987. In 1994, he was replaced by Franz Beckenbauer. Since then, he has been the vice president of the company. Apart from Karl-Heinz Wildmoser junior, he was one of the two managing directors of Allianz Arena München Stadion GmbH until April 1. Until 2003, Scherer was also a professor at the Fachhochschule Augsburg.

At the annual general meeting of FC Bayern Munich in 2012, Scherer no longer stood as vice president, his successor was Karl Hopfner. Scherer was appointed Honorary Vice President. In addition to the position of the vice president of FC Bayern Munich, Scherer was also a member of the Supervisory Board of the club and the DFB's tax and economic committee.
