Some reports are saying that he named the baby Luca or Luka. Does it have to do with Lukas Podolski? I know that they are very close friends.
Based on what I read the baby was born in Chicago (Bastian did not travel with the Fire to Minnesota on March 17) so that means that his kid will be eligible to play for the USA (if Jose Mourinho is not the our NT coach 20 years from now tough )

I read Luka in Croatian media. Luka is one of the most common names in Serbia.

I know what you mean but I actually heard about Stephan Beckenbauer who played for our youth and Bayern II in the 80's with some spells at 1860 Munich and Saarbrucken. Remember that Franz became a father at a very young age.
On the other hand many famous footballers produced good kids for the sport. Look at Justin Kluivert these days. Just in the USA pipeline we have Jonathan Klinsmann (Hertha) and Tim Weah (PSG). But who knows, Luka Schweinsteiger might become the next Federer instead.

I'm thinking of attending his farewell game in august. I've only seen Bayern live twice (vs Inter 2010 and vs Getafe 2008) and none of them were at home. I've never been to Allianz nor Germany, so watching my idol's last game would be a good first time :D

I was thinking of staying 2-3 days in Munich as well as it would save me money from the flight. Problem is that I don't drive and I've realised Allianz Arena seems to be quite far from the city.

Is it relatively easy to get to the city centre by public transport on weekdays? I was thinking of booking a hotel near the stadium.

The train is super reliable. But I guess those who live in Germany and those who were in Munich lately can be of greater help

Takes you about 15 minutes from Marienplatz to the AA... It’s a little crowded on matchdays, but they have extra trains every few minutes - don’t worry, German efficiency

I'm also considering to be in Basti's farewell game, is any other member going to be there so we can arrange a bayernforum meeting? :)
