But I'm excited as an American to see him come to the States! Hope he can help the sport grow here. Chicago better treat a proper legend right!

How many of you Americans think that can go and watch him ?

I will be going to the Earthquakes-Fire match in San Jose on Sept 27th with a bunch of members of the Mia San Franscisco fan club. (Shameless plug- we watch matches together at Danny Coyles Pub in San Francisco if anyone's ever there!)

The downtown area/Michigan Avenue, Millennium Park, all the areas around the stadiums feel perfectly safe to me every time I visit.

Like I said I don't live there but I have family and friends who do and I'm only about 3-4 hours away by train. I try and visit fairly often. I think it's a very cool place and by and large if you don't go looking for trouble you won't run into any.

In Malta when there's a crime such as a shooting or something we say "Are we in Chicago?"

@Ramsej I don't live anywhere close. :(

Why would you have to avoid O'Hare?

Because it's a pain in the ass and often delayed. Midway is easier.

I assume he will live in the North west burbs like my sister does and travel into downtown.

It's just the way it is with all clubs in all sports. Many have a meaning because of a natural animal from the area or in Chicago's case the great chicago fire in 1871.

For instance the NHL (a sport that takes two balls to play) the Calgary Flames were originally in Atlanta as the Atlanta Flames. Well they got the name from when Shermans march to the sea in the American civil war where General of the union army William Tecumseh Sherman made a sweep to the south burning everything in it's path and burned Atlanta to the ground.

Florida Panthers in the NHL are because they have a natural florida panther that lives in the area, Tampa Bay Lighting? well tampa is the lightning capital of the world. Washington Capitals? well duh the US capital is there home.

Colleges names like the University of Florida Gators... Well florida has a lot of swamp land and a lot of gators, University of Tennessee Volunteers? ennessee adopted the name Volunteers, or more commonly Vols, because of a now-official nickname that Tennessee received during the War of 1812, the Volunteer State. The name became even more prominent in the Mexican War when Governor Aaron V. Brown issued a call for 2,800 men to battle Santa Ana and some 30,000 Tennesseans volunteered.

So on and so on...

Hahaha! there's a reason they call it Chiraq.... Truth be told there are definitely large neighborhoods you don't want any part of. I did some inner city service work a few years back on the south/southwest region and it was definitely sketchy. At night they'd have us sleep in the basement of wherever we were staying for fear of drive-by shootings potentially hitting the upstairs haha

So Orlando chose 'Magic' in order not to upset the rest of Disney's repertoire? :P

In fact, yes. The Magic word was chosen from a pool of 4-5 finalists (I think) and the little girl from one of the 2 founders chose Magic because of all the Disney hype.

/me being a NBA & Lakers fan even before being a Bayern fan (5 years old, I think).

Angels in the Outfield was one of the greatest movies I had when I was a kid. I miss the 90's. ;)

This "journalist" get paid real money for his supposed knowledge about soccer. If that doesn't signify stealing a living I don't know what does. People are dying of starvation ffs.
