Zé Roberto returns to Säbener Straße

Postby FCBayernNews » Fri Mar 16, 2018 3:50 pm

With nearly a week to go until the charity match at Liverpool, the first Bayern legends started appearing at Säbener Straße on Friday. Along with Giovane Elber, Zé Roberto also popped by – and gave out some presents. The 43 year-old, who only ended his playing career at the end of last season – with a title, of course – presented Jupp Heynckes with a shirt from his previous club Palmeiras São Paulo. The Brazilian knows the FCB boss from his spell at Real Madrid in 1997. Uli Hoeneß, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and David Alaba were also delighted to receive a shirt from Zé Roberto.

German football takes a stand against discrimination

The DFL Foundation has launched a campaign against discrimination of all forms, and has designated Bundesliga Matchday 27 as the day of action for its ‘Strich durch Vorurteile’ (cross out prejudices) initiative. “With this message, professional football is taking a clear stance against the divisive forces in our society,” said DFL chief Christian Seifert, who along with DFL Foundation chairman Stefan Kiefer has prepared a comprehensive programme of measures. The day of action is being accompanied by TV adverts in which Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, Naldo and Kevin-Prince Boateng promote an equal and harmonious society. “Those who know me know my stance on the issue of discrimination and how serious it is to me,” said Boateng. “It just cannot be that someone is excluded and abused because of the colour of their skin, religion or sexuality. The DFL Foundation and the 36 clubs are sending out a clear message against racism and discrimination in our society.”

Refund for Besiktas travellers

The Bayern fans who travelled to watch the record German champions in Istanbul this week are happy customers: Besiktas belatedly reduced the entry prices for the Champions League last 16 second leg by €7. The fans who applied for tickets through Bayern will receive this €7 back from the club in the coming days.
