Usami completes transfer formalities

Postby FCBayernNews » Fri Jul 15, 2011 3:20 pm

Takashi Usami officially became a Bayern player on Friday lunchtime, after reporting to the management floor at the club's Säbener Strasse headquarters to take delivery of the number 14 shirt from director of sport Christian Nerlinger, and sign his new contract. "Coming here is a dream come true. FC Bayern is a huge club with great players. I'm delighted to be here," Munich's first-ever Japanese player told FCB.tv.

Usami will initially spend the season on loan to Munich, with an option for Bayern to make the Japan junior international's stay permanent after that. The talented 19-year-old arrives at the Allianz Arena from J-League outfit Gamba Osaka.

After the signing ceremony, Nerlinger took Usami on a tour of the headquarters and training facility. By chance, the pair crossed paths with Bastian Schweinsteiger, who wasted no time in warmly welcoming his new team-mate. Head coach Jupp Heynckes also added his words of greeting a short time later.

20 hours in the air

The Japanese starlet and his wife Ran Tainaka arrived in Munich on Thursday evening after a gruelling 20-hour flight from the Far East, surprising reporters at the airport by using the traditional Bavarian greeting of Servus.
