Thomas Müller: "That falls in the category of a hard-earned

Bayern were made to work hard for their important victory in the first away game of the Champions League season on Tuesday, as the holders struggled to break down the compact Lokomotiv Moscow defence. After the Russians cancelled out Leon Goretzka’s first-half header, it took some Joshua Kimmich magic to restore the lead and ensure a 2-1 win with his 79th-minute striker.

Müller: “Respect to the opposition”

“Respect to the opposition, that falls in the category of a hard-earned win. It was a tough game, but also nice to soak up that atmosphere again. We’ve often experienced matches like that in the Champions League, against supposed underdogs,” Thomas Müller told fcbayern.com after the game. “Moscow did really well. We missed one or two chances and took a few blows on the counter.”

The treble winners returned home straight after the game in Russia. After a day off from training, FCB will turn their focus to the next fixture from Thursday. That sees Bayern contest the second of four straight away games when they travel to Cologne. “We’re glad we won. It means we can now focus on the weekend,” Müller added.
