Statement from FC Bayern regarding incident at Hertha

Postby FCBayernNews » Tue Feb 21, 2017 12:35 pm

FC Bayern has released the following statement regarding the German Football Association (DFB) inquiry into incidents after last Saturday's match between FC Bayern and Hertha BSC:

We regard Carlo Ancelotti's gesture in response to being spat at as an understable emotional reaction.

The DFB panel has accepted this position and will cease its inquiry. However, as an apology for his gesture Carlo Ancelotti will make a donation of 5,000 Euros to the DFB Foundation.

Still, one can't help thinking about how much fun those Hertha BSC fans had. They must be boasting to their friends about how their actions caused Ancelotti to donate €5,000 while they failed to get punished.

The DFB is also investigating two other charges against Hertha. The referee put in his report that he was also spat on by fans and also reported that a Hertha official made unsportsmanlike comments to the referee team after the game.

The short of it is that Hertha will almost undoubtedly be fined and it'll cost them more than €5000.
