Special events at Schweinsteiger farewell game

Postby FCBayernNews » Mon Aug 27, 2018 4:05 pm

Bastian Schweinsteiger is coming home amid massive anticipation. “He was very popular here and he was, and is, a crowd favourite. Fans are looking forward to seeing him and Chicago Fire. I’m looking forward to seeing him again,” said Manuel Neuer focussing on the farewell game on Tuesday night (20:30 CET) against the current club of the 2013 treble winner. To welcome Schweinsteiger, the Allianz Arena has come up with a special idea: On the day of the game, the facade will be lit up with a large, white 31 – the legendary shirt number of the Fußballgott – on a red background.

During the game, Schweinsteiger will play one half for Chicago Fire and the other for the German record champions. This will include a special reunion with the current FC Bayern coach, as the man from Upper Bavaria came on for Niko Kovac in his Bundesliga debut at Stuttgart on 7 December 2002. “That means he’ll be substituted straight away when he plays for us. Perhaps, I’ll come on for him,” joked the Croat.

Celebrations after full time

“No, just joking! Schweini came through from the youth teams aged 18. He was very motivated, didn’t stand for any nonsense, gave his all in training and has had a fantastic career. The performances and commitment for this club and Germany have been incredible. He was not only a good player but he is also a special person, a great bloke and I’m happy we’re meeting up again on Tuesday,” added Kovac enthusiastically.

Bayern fans share that assessment and can hardly wait for the match to kick off. After the game, they want to celebrate with their Fußballgott again. So there will be other events following the final whistle. So it will definitely be worth staying in your seats a bit longer.
