Ribéry pushing hard

Postby FCBayernNews » Mon Feb 20, 2017 2:55 pm

A day without training at Säbener Straße? Not quite! One player was putting himself through his paces on Monday: Franck Ribery. The Frenchman dribbled his way through slalom poles, jumped over hurdles and sprinted until his heart was content. His efforts mean a return to full team training are edging ever closer. Carlo Ancelotti had already expressed his hope on Friday that the winger would be back and available for selection after his muscle injury for the next home league game against Hamburger SV.

Basketballers miss out on trophy

FC Bayern München’s basketballers narrowly lost out in the TOP FOUR final against Brose Bamberg (74-71) to miss out on the chance to bring the trophy back to Munich for the first time in 49 years. Bayern started well in the nerve-racking and dramatic defensive battle but went behind in the second quarter. The Munich side remained hot on the tails of the Bamberg team and even had a throw to snatch victory in the exciting closing seconds, but unfortunately missed. “Both sides played to win. We just weren’t clever enough in some situations,” said head coach Sasa Djordjevic, who still expressed his pride at his players’ performance. “It was a great game, very entertaining,” summarised Bayern president Uli Hoeneß, who was present to watch the match. “I’m not disappointed. Bamberg are ahead of us, but we’re getting ever closer.”
