Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld praised his men for a dramatic second half recovery in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Hanover: "My team bounced back and seized the initiative." The introduction of Roque Santa Cruz at half-time had added new impulse, the coach reflected.

Reaction to Hanover v Bayern

Ottmar Hitzfeld: "I'm basically satisfied with what was fundamentally a lucky victory. It was a very poor first half. We had problems settling down with so many new faces in the team. At half-time, I called for more commitment and told my players not to be so passive. My team bounced back in the second half and seized the initiative. We rode our luck at the right times, and there was a new impulse after the introduction of Santa Cruz.“

Martin Demichelis: "I'm delighted I've scored a vital goal for the team today. I'm pleased we've taken revenge for the defeat at home, where my mistake led to their winning goal. Also, I've lost my regular starting position under Ottmar Hitzfeld, but now he's seen I'm up for it when he needs me. But the most important thing was taking all three points."

Dieter Hecking (Hanover coach): "I thought we played really well in the first half, but Bayern were back to their old selves in the second half. They created two chances and scored twice. I thought we had a chance of beating Bayern, but they scored the equaliser straight after half-time, and then Schweinsteiger rediscovered his scoring touch. We need points from our next couple of games, as there's still a danger of us sliding down the table."

Jan Rosenthal (Hanover): "We were clearly the better team in the first half, and I'm not sure my goal was offside. But we can't sit here wringing our hands, we have to be more clinical with our chances. Santa Cruz and Podolski drove Bayern forward after half time and we were unable to respond, that was our biggest mistake."

We always seem to have a poor first half in the last 50... oh well maybe 25 games
