Müller crowns landmark evening with special goal

Postby FCBayernNews » Thu Sep 19, 2019 10:15 am

It took Thomas Müller just 11 minutes to write himself into the history books and round off a successful opening Champions League match of the season against Red Star Belgrade with a delightful goal. Coach Niko Kovacsent the Bavarian into action in the 83rd minute of the game. It was the 106th time the 30-year-old has taken to the pitch in the Champions League, meaning he is now Bayern’s outright record appearance holder in the competition, ahead of Philipp Lahm and also Oliver Kahn.

That was not enough, though. Eight minutes after his substitution, the forward crowned his landmark evening with FCB’s third goal after a clever free-kick routine from Thiago. “I intended to make things happen up front, no matter how many minutes I got. The fact I managed to get a goal in the end is even nicer,” Müller said after his milestone.
