Minute's silence for Robert Enke

Postby FCBayernNews » Sat Nov 09, 2019 10:00 pm

To mark the tenth anniversary of Robert Enke's death on 10 November, a minute's silence was held at the initiative of the German FA (DFB) and the Robert Enke Foundation, with the support of the German Football League (DFL). The minute's reflection was not only in memory of Robert Enke as a person and athlete, it was also held to sensibilise people for depression and the existing offers of assistance.

Last week FC Bayern president Uli Hoeneß talked about depression at a panel discussion with Teresa Enke, founder of the Robert Enke Foundation and widow of the Germany keeper. "It's important that we all do our part to free the widespread disease depression from taboos. Mrs Enke and her foundation are doing a great job. If people talk frankly about the subject, it will make it easier for many people affected to open up," Hoeneß said.

Robert Enke committed suicide on 10 November 2009.
