Liverpool beat Burnley

Postby FCBayernNews » Sun Mar 10, 2019 3:35 pm

Liverpool secured victory in the last game ahead of the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 tie away to FC Bayern. Jürgen Klopp’s team beat Burnley 4-2 at Anfield on Sunday afternoon so they head for Wednesday’s game in Munich on the back of a league win. The Reds did not get off to a good start as Ashley Westwood opened the scoring for the visitors on six minutes. The hosts hit back and turned the game round before the half-time break with goals from Roberto Firmino (19’) and Sadio Mané (29’). After the restart, Firmino (67’) extended the lead with his second goal. Johann Berg Gudmundsson (90+1’) pulled a goal back for Burnley but that was cancelled out when Mané (90+3’) made it 4-2. The result means Liverpool (73 points) still trail Premier League leaders Manchester City (74).

Liverpool line-up: Alisson – Alexander-Arnold (Sturridge 86’), Matip, van Dijk, Robertson – Wijnaldum (Henderson 68’), Fabinho, Lallana (Keita 77’) – Salah, Firmino, Mané
