Lewandowski completes first training session in Munich

Postby FCBayernNews » Wed Jan 15, 2020 5:10 pm

Säbener Straße is coming back to life again. Four days ahead of the first game in the second half of the season away to Hertha Berlin, FC Bayern trained for the first time this year on a club pitch and there was also good news. Robert Lewandowski, who missed the training camp in Doha due to an operation, was able to complete the full session and was immediately in the mood for finding the back of the net. The Poland international, top scorer in the Bundesliga with 19 goals to date, hit some impressive shots and didn't duck out of challenges.

That didn't just apply to the striker as the whole squad gave the impression of being totally focused and completely motivated – and all were in good spirits in spite of the strenuous drills. For starters there were sprints as it is still the build-up to the Bundesliga restart. All went well with the rest of the work on the ball where the FCB players were able to demonstrate their technical expertise.

After 90-minutes hard work, it was time for the players to return to the dressing room – with the exception of Lewandowski. The striker, who was delighted to be named in the UEFA Team of the Year for the first time on Wednesday, put in some overtime. Serge Gnabry was unable to take part in full training but he did train on his own again on the neighbouring pitch.

FC Bayern completed performance diagnostics on Tuesday; Serge Gnabry is working on making his comeback to the team following Achilles problems.
