Leroy Sané back in full training

Postby FCBayernNews » Thu Oct 22, 2020 12:35 pm

Just a few hours after their excellent win over Atlético Madrid in the first match of this season's UCL group stage, there was more good news to come out of the Bayern camp. Leroy Sané, sidelined since the end of September with a knee capsule injury, was back in first team training for the first time on Thursday.

Sprints, patterns of play, shooting - Sané puts a shift in

Along with the players who were not in the starting 11 against Atlético, he headed out onto the grass at Säbener Strasse in the morning. After a warm-up and some intensive sprints, the programme included running through some patterns of play. Sané was already impressive with his speed of movement and excellent finishes. This was typified by a particular moment from the 24-year-old during one drill: with a nimble shimmy, the attacker went past an opponent, played in Joshua Zirkzee, drove into the penalty area at lightning-quick speed, got the ball back and finished with aplomb.

Extra work with Klose

At the end of the session and after a short talk with head coach Hansi Flick, Sané took on an extra session. Under the guidance of assistant coach and World Cup record goalscorer Miroslav Klose, the winger did some finishing practices.

Nianzou trains alone, starting XI with a recovery session

Meanwhile, Tanguy Nianzou continued to work on the adjacent pitch improving his fitness through an individual programme after a thigh injury. The first players who had played against Atlético from the start completed a recovery session on Thursday.

On Friday, the final training session before the Bundesliga clash with Eintracht Frankfurt is on the programme. Against the Hessians, the Munich team will want to build on the strong performances of the last few games and win their sixth competitive match in a row.

Sané's German compatriot Kimmich was in special form against Atlético - read more about his performance and his extra motivation before the game here:
