Heynckes: That was a joy to watch

Postby FCBayernNews » Sat Mar 10, 2012 7:10 pm

The Allianz Arena crowd was treated to a free-scoring spectacular as Bayern blasted seven goals past Hoffenheim on Saturday. Delight filled the FCB camp afterwards. "It was a joy to watch. The way we made our goals was straight out of the textbook," said boss Jupp Heynckes. "I really enjoyed it," continued the 66-year-old, but visiting coach Markus Babbel voiced a different opinion: "We can be pleased we've only let in seven," said the former Munich man.

Reaction to Bayern v Hoffenheim:

Jupp Heynckes: "Overall, it was a classy performance. The way we made our goals was straight out of the textbook. It was a joy to watch. We built up a real head of steam. By contrast with the match in Leverkusen, we made the most of our chances today. If we'd done the same thing there, we'd have won. We were totally focused today, and we closed down the space, fought for possession, and played really good football too. It was good for Schweinsteiger, Olic and Tymoschuk to get playing time. The group was hungry and played as a unit. I really enjoyed it."

Philipp Lahm: "With that result, you'll obviously say it was a great game. We took an early lead and ruthlessly converted our chances. It was 5-0 at half-time and the game was over. The important thing was taking the lead. It makes opponents realise they're in for a hard time. And if you follow up the opening goal, it takes care of itself. We'll fight for the title right to the end."

Arjen Robben: "We really enjoyed ourselves today. That's how it always has to be, and that's how we should carry on. We should never be playing any differently from that. A win like that boosts your confidence. In terms of the title, we'll have to wait and see. All we can do is win our matches. We can't do any more than that."

Markus Babbel (Hoffenheim coach): "I really hate losing, but once Bayern get going, it's hard to resist, especially if you're nervous before the start. A wave comes at you and you can't stand up to it. We can be pleased we've only let in seven. We've caved in, but we have to pick ourselves up for Friday's match against Stuttgart."

Tom Starke (Hoffenheim keeper): "It was a black day for us, and a great one for Bayern. We've been taught a lesson, and we've taken a terrible beating. We have to close ranks and move on from this."

Sebastian Rudy (Hoffenheim): "We were very poor. But we have to put it behind us and focus on our next match against Stuttgart. We let in an early goal, and that can't be happening, especially not against Bayern. They have unbelievable quality. The second half wasn't so bad, but Bayern did ease up a little."
