Postby FCBayernNews » Tue Mar 17, 2015 5:10 pm

Straight after training on Tuesday, Pep Guardiola made his way to Munich airport for a flight to Madrid. The 44-year-old has travelled to the Spanish capital to attend the Champions League Round of 16 return between Atlético Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen. The Bayern head coach will then travel on to Catalonia for Wednesday’s meeting between FC Barcelona und Manchester City. Guardiola aims to gather information about FCB’s potential quarter-final opponents in Europe’s elite club competition as well as Leverkusen, the team Munich face in the upcoming DFB Cup last eight tie.

Robben, Ribéry and Rode miss training

A handful of players were unable to take part in Tuesday’s open training session. Arjen Robben (trapped nerve) and Franck Ribéry (ankle) each completed tailored workouts out on the practice ground. Sebastian Rode (bruised foot), Claudio Pizarro and Gianluca Gaudino (both sprains) remained in the performance centre. Youngster Sinan Kurt was forced to break off the training session with a knee problem.

Bierhoff and Flick drop by

Matthias Sammer watched Tuesday’s session from the terrace outside the players’ quarters together with Hansi Flick. The current DFB sporting director and former assistant coach of Germany’s World Cup-winning team called in on FC Bayern together with national team manager Oliver Bierhoff.
