‘Great place for us to work on the future’

Postby FCBayernNews » Wed Aug 09, 2017 11:25 am

1 August 2017 is a special date in the history of FC Bayern München as that was the day the Allianz FC Bayern Campus opened. After less than two years in construction, the FCB employees and, above all, the coaching staff and teams were able to move in to start working on the future of FC Bayern. "The set-up here is incredible. The Campus is really impressive," declared FCB sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic on his first visit to the site on Tuesday.

A week of hard training has been completed and Jochen Sauer, director of the FC Bayern Campus, is completely satisfied. "The fundamentals for working here are all very good. Training is already well and truly underway and everybody's happy," said the 45-year-old. However, the hard-working planners will not rest but rather fine tune as they aim to achieve perfection. "Of course, after a few days you notice a couple of areas that need improving. But that's completely normal. It's the same with every building project, above all of this magnitude," added Sauer.

Clubhouse for all fans

Another small piece in the jigsaw is improved accessibility. The FC Bayern Campus bus stop, which is right outside the entrance, has been taken into service on the MVV local transport network. This means fans can reach the Academy on route numbers 294 and 295 to have a look at the facilities or to come and discuss the German record champions in the clubhouse. The in-house bistro is open to the public for coffee and cake plus classic football specialties such as Currywurst, schnitzel and beer.

Supporters are certain to call in on Saturday as the venue, with a capacity of 2,500, hosts the first match. Bayern entertain SC Freiburg (11.00 CET) in the opening game of the U17 Bundesliga campaign. "This first match provides the next test. We're already looking forward to it," said Sauer excitedly.

The FC Bayern Campus is really taking off. "We've so much space here that it's a great place for us to work on the future of FC Bayern," said Salihamidzic full of enthusiasm for the 30-hectare facility. "We’ll have a lot of fun at our Campus," said Brazzo looking forward to the coming weeks and months.
