First session for returnee Douglas Costa as Bayern begin wee

Postby FCBayernNews » Tue Oct 13, 2020 4:20 pm

After three days off training, Bayern got back to work on Tuesday morning ahead of a packed week. The treble winners are tasked with playing two games in the space of just 48 hours, with a DFB Cup match against 1. FC Düren on Thursday before a league match against the 2019/20 Bundesliga 2 winners, Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday.

All new signings involved for first time

You can see the best pictures from training on Tuesday here:

"It's a challenge, training is carried out at a really high intensity," noted Douglas Costa after the session. Hansi Flick was able to see the Brazilian on the pitch for the first time since his return to Munich – and the 30-year-old player was delighted. "I am happy to be here," the attacker said, revealing that he had missed his old teammates in particular the past three years.

Together with the other new boys Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Marc Roca and Bouna Sarr, as well as other members of the first team not on international duty, Douglas Costa was part of a small group of pros on the pitch. The Bayern coach will use most of this group to put together his team for the first-round DFB Cup tie against fifth-tier side Düren at the Allianz Arena – and Douglas Costa is already pumped up for the game: "I always enjoy being on the field and am motivated to put a Bayern jersey back on."

Sané and Nianzou continue with individual training

A total of 12 FCB players from the first team squad are currently still away with their national teams and could therefore be rested for the DFB Cup match. Leroy Sané and Tanguy Nianzou only started full training at the end of last week and are continuing with their individual programmes. As a result, a number of young players were also present at training, some of whom will be in line for a squad place or maybe more for Thursday's match against Düren.
