FCB’s best-ever Champions League start

Postby FCBayernNews » Tue Sep 29, 2015 11:00 pm

An opening day 3-0 win and a 5-0 triumph on Matchday 2 represents FC Bayern’s best-ever start to a Champions League campaign. It is the tenth time Germany’s biggest club have won their first two matches in the competition. On all nine previous occasions FCB have progressed to the knockout round.

Lewandowski up to second

Robert Lewandowski’s hot streak continued against Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday night as the striker moved onto ten goals in three games. His hat-trick against the Croatian champions took him up to 26 in the Champions League, level with former Bayern striker Mario Gomez and making him the second-best Bundesliga scorer in Europe’s elite club competition. Lewandowski’s team-mate Thomas Müller leads that ranking with 30 goals.

Arsenal downed by Olympiacos

Arsenal are already in danger of missing out on the Champions League Round of 16. In their second Group F match at home to Olympiacos, the Gunners suffered their second straight defeat and are bottom of the section prior to the double-header against leaders FC Bayern. In the match at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal twice went behind to goals from Felipe Pardo (33) and an own goal by keeper David Ospina (40). Theo Walcott (35) and Alexis Sanchez (65) twice hauled the north London side level, but sub Alfred Finnbogason (68) struck the winner for the Greeks.

It's also the best start ever in the Bundesliga.
It goes without saying that I'd be very disappointed if we don't reach at least the UCL final.
