FCB remains most valuable brand

Postby FCBayernNews » Mon May 26, 2014 5:10 pm

Twelve months after the historic treble triumph FC Bayern has maintained and in fact enhanced its position of being the most valuable football brand in the world. According to a study by the British institute Brand Finance, FCB have retained top spot with a brand value of US $896 million. Last year’s brand value was US $860 million. Champions League winners Real Madrid are in second place ($768m) with Manchester United ($739m) slipping back to third.

Sammer brings the DFB Cup to the Erlebniswelt

Pep Guardiola visited the FC Bayern Erlebniswelt two weeks ago with the Bundesliga shield – and now the DFB Cup has also taken up residence in the FCB club museum: Matthias Sammer brought the second trophy won by FCB in 2014 to the FC Bayern Erlebniswelt at the Allianz Arena, bringing the two glittering prizes together. “It's great seeing the two trophies here at the same time,” said the Bayern Munich sporting director on his visit to the club museum. “You can see we've had a very, very successful season.” The double trophies can be viewed at the FC Bayern Erlebniswelt from now to the end of next season.

Lahm to resume light training

Germany captain Philipp Lahm is due to return to light training on Tuesday following his recent injury. “He'll complete a running session tomorrow. We'll take it day by day,” said coach Joachim Löw on Monday at the Germany training camp. Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer needs to spend “a few more days in rehab” after picking up a shoulder injury. A decision on Bastian Schweinsteiger's return to full training will be made on Wednesday. All three players are expected to be fit for the World Cup. “I don't see any long-term problems and all three should be fit and healthy,” said Löw.

Peer survey: Neuer is number one

Bayern pro Manuel Neuer is the top goalkeeper in the Bundesliga according to a poll of his fellow professionals in Germany's top flight. A survey carried out by sports journal kicker saw 27.5 percent of the respondents vote for Neuer ahead of Bernd Leno (Bayer Leverkusen, 22.5%) and Marc-André ter Stegen (Borussia Mönchengladbach, 12.4%) in second and third spots.

We've also lost this lead - Incredibly it's not to Barcelona or Real Madrid but it's Man. Utd.
