FCB conclude training camp

Postby FCBayernNews » Sun Jan 07, 2018 1:20 pm

The Bayern pros worked up a sweat on the last day in Doha. 15 hours after the victory over Al-Ahli the Bavarians completed several drills at the Aspire facility. The team featuring David Alaba, Sandro Wagner and Sebastian Rudy were beaming after a prestige victory in the practice match. "I think we can look back on successful days. We were able to do a number of things," a pleased Sven Ulreich commented on the training camp: "We benefited from it."

Arjen Robben agreed, calling the days in Doha "very positive. We worked very well, we were very focused." The training camp was demanding, the FCB pros turned in eight sessions with the ball but also weight training. "We've had very intense days and worked a lot in terms of strength and stamina," said Ulreich. The Bavarians departed for Munich with heavy legs on Sunday lunchtime (local time).

'It's about Leverkusen'

Jupp Heynckes, who drew a very positive conclusion on Saturday, awarded his men the day off on Monday. Bayern will continue their preparations for the second half of the season on Tuesday morning. Mats Hummels (adductor problem) and Robert Lewandowski (patella ligament problem) are set to resume the squad programme then. Bayern encounter SG Sonnenhof Großaspach in a friendly on Tuesday evening.

"We're aware it starts again on 12 January," said Thomas Müller, referring to the Bundesliga reopener against Leverkusen on Friday. The Bayern pros passed up marketing opportunities in Doha to put the full focus on training. "It's all nice, good and positive here, but it's about the match against Leverkusen," stressed Robben: "We have to be prepared then." The Bavarians hope they have laid the foundation for a successful start.
