Emotional moment for Tolisso

Postby FCBayernNews » Thu Jan 31, 2019 3:05 pm

Corentin Tolisso stepped onto the pitch at Säbener Straße and spread his arms in a jubilant pose. He'd finally made it. The France player was able to complete the first running exercises on the training ground at Säbener Straße today following his cruciate ligament rupture, and the grin on his face during the 25-minute session was testament to the joy he felt. After four and a half tough and exhausting months in rehab, the 24-year-old is now able to get back onto the pitch again. At the end of the session he embraced fitness and rehabilitation coach Thomas Wilhelmi, who had guided him during this difficult time. Head coach Niko Kovac was pleased about Tolisso's progress: "He's feeling really good. After a long time out, he was able to train on the pitch, he's really happy about that."

Hard work

On Matchday 2, the newly-crowned world champion tore the cruciate ligament and outer meniscus in his right knee after an unfortunate collision with Kevin Volland from Leverkusen. After the necessary surgery, he worked hard on his comeback. The running session on the training ground - a few days before the reverse fixture against Leverkusen - was another big step towards making his return. And an emotional moment that Tolisso intends to build on.
