Coutinho impresses against parent club Barcelona

Postby FCBayernNews » Sat Aug 15, 2020 7:59 pm

Two goals and an assist – and all that in just seven minutes. Philippe Coutinho made a strong impression in FC Bayern's 8-2 win over FC Barcelona in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. The fact that it was against his parent club emphasises the achievement even more so. In the summer of 2019, the German record champions brought the Brazilian to Munich on loan from the Catalans.

Pinpoint cross for Lewandowski

Coutinho watched the first 75 minutes against Barça from the bench and saw his colleagues turn in an impressive performance. When he then came on for Serge Gnabry, he continued that trend with ease. After a fine dribble, he crossed the ball with pinpoint accuracy to the head of Robert Lewandowski, so much so that the Pole had no problems scoring from close range to make it 6-2.

Full commitment and fine technique

O Magico, as he is known in his homeland, scored the last two goals of the evening himself. First, the attacker toe-poked the ball over the line powerfully before making perfect use of Lucas Hernández's pass, shooting low from close range to round the game off at 8-2. Coutinho showed the full range of his skills against Barça in the short cameo and further underlined the incredible depth of FCB’s squad. A huge step in the right direction in Bayern’s #MISSIONLIS6ON.

Thomas Müller also impressed in FC Bayern's  majestic display with a brace and an assist:
