Coach: Draw is not the end of the world

Postby FCBayernNews » Sat Nov 17, 2012 8:32 pm

It simply wasn't to be on Saturday. After a run of five away victories on the trot, Bayern had to make do with a 1-1 draw away to FC Nürnberg on Saturday. "It's not the end of the world," said boss Jupp Heynckes afterwards, "It's just not possible to win every game." Heynckes, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Manuel Neuer still lamented FCB's failure to add to their early opener.

Reaction to Nürnberg v Bayern:

Jupp Heynckes: "It's not the end of the world. It's just not possible to win every game. We can live with the draw. After taking the early lead, we failed to make it two or even three. Obviously, we conceded the equaliser at a psychologically bad moment."

Bastian Schweinsteiger: "It wasn't easy. We had some good openings, but the final ball went astray, and we took some wrong decisions. We definitely should have scored a second, that would have calmed thigs down a lot, but then we went and gifted them a goal."

Manuel Neuer: "It was a tough one for me, because Feulner's shot wobbled and my line of sight was blocked. He hit it very well. We're annoyed about dropping two points here."

Dieter Hecking (Nürnberg coach): "If I'd been offered a point at home to Bayern beforehand, I'd have taken it at once. We absolutely deserved the draw. Unfortunately, we were asleep in the early stages of the first half. We rode our luck in that Bayern didn't add a second, and we were lucky in the second half in that we equalised from our first decent move. But we had plenty of bite, and you need that against Bayern."

Markus Feulner (Nürnberg goalscorer): "It was a bit fortunate that the ball moved in the air the way it did. At first, it looked as though it was headed for the centre of the goal, but then it curled. I'm sure that was a surprise for Manuel Neuer."

True Jupp. But with one player advantage on the field in last 10-15 minutes you didn't send Pizarro and sub someone from the midfield and kick the ball on Mandžukić and Pizarro in the box.

Still no bravery from Jupp.

PR guys in Munich caught doing a Search/Replace on this story. Search was for the words 'Nürnberg' and 'Saturday.' Replace words were 'Valencia' and 'Tuesday.'
