The winter weather maintained its icy grip on Munich this Wednesday. The day's snow-shovelling party required nearly four hours to clear training pitch number one for the first-team squad, but the dressing room mood was in stark contrast to the freezing ambient temperatures. "We're really enjoying the training session," Roy Makaay insisted. "We're handling it well. The pitch has been completely cleared, so what more could you want?"
With just two days remaining until the resumption of Bundesliga hostilities away to Borussia Dortmund, coach Felix Magath was in an equally upbeat frame of mind. "It looks extremely good in terms of injuries," the boss told fcbayern.de. "We'll pick from a full squad for Friday."
Schweinsteiger reports fit
Only two players were absent from the Wednesday workout. Valerien Ismaël continues to work his way back to fitness after a double leg fracture, and Andreas Görlitz was rested after completing the full programme over recent weeks. "It's just a precaution," Magath explained, "he'll take part again tomorrow."
Bastian Schweinsteiger returned to the action after missing Tuesday's session with a cold. The midfielder has declared himself fit for the trip to the Ruhr Valley. Martin Demichelis, Lukas Podolski, Roque Santa Cruz and Willy Sagnol, who all sat out the final friendly away to Hamburg last weekend with minor injuries, "are all OK again now," Magath reported.
Hargreaves in reserve
A question-mark remains over Owen Hargreaves. "He's not entirely confident himself yet," the coach explained. The England utility man has only just resumed training after a broken leg, and was unable to take part in any of Bayern's winter friendlies. Magath said he would wait until Thursday's closed training session before reaching a final decision.
