Bayern start off eventful week

Postby FCBayernNews » Mon Apr 01, 2019 3:55 pm

The Bayern pros started off an eventful week in bright sunshine and in a good mood on Monday. They take on second-division Heidenheim in the DFB Cup last eight on Wednesday before entertaining Borussia Dortmund in Saturday's Bundesliga top clash, two crucial matches in the fight for the domestic titles.

"We can hardly wait for the week," Niko Kovac said at the press talk after the training session. The Bayern coach has put last weekend's setback behind him: "Unfortunately we didn't achieve the result we had planned against Freiburg. But that doesn't mean the week won't end well."

But first Kovac only focuses on the cup clash, the Dortmund match "follows." However, the 47-year-old will not have the full squad at his disposal: "I don't count on Arjen Robben and Alphonso Davies for Wednesday." Manuel Neuer and David Alaba, who had missed Saturday's match with muscular problems, are rated doubtful. "They didn't train today, they're on the road to recovery but that's it," revealed Kovac. Kovac assumes "at this point" that Sven Ulreich will feature between the sticks against Heidenheim.

There was positive news from Corentin Tolisso, who resumed the squad programme about two weeks ago after his cruciate ligament rupture sustained in September: "Coco is making very good progress. He has no problems, his knee is in top condition." Tolisso must give the green light in consultation with the medical unit. "Then I hope he can make some brief appearances this season," said Kovac.
