Postby FCBayernNews » Tue Aug 04, 2020 3:20 pm

Floodlights, an anthem that raises the hair on the back of your head, top international football - on Saturday the time has finally come! In the return fixture of the Champions League last 16, FC Bayern welcome Chelsea to the Allianz Arena. On Tuesday morning, the record champions started their final preparations for the premier competition clash. After Hansi Flick had given his team a day off on Sunday and had led a remote online training session on Monday, the FCB first team returned to Säbener Straße for the first time this week.

Klose coaches new boys and youth products

The very large training squad was divided into two groups, with Flick announcing his intention to do as such last week. The 55-year-old head coach led a total of 23 outfield players, including not only the first team but also up-and-coming talents Bright Arrey-Mbi, Jamala Musiala, Mailk Tillman and Oliver Batista-Meier. The second group, consisting of newcomers Leroy Sané, Tanguy Nianzou and Adrian Fein as well as a few other youth players, was led by new assistant coach Miroslav Klose.

Assistant coach Miroslav Klose's group, with new boy Leroy Sané, practised shooting.

After warming up and some passing exercises with shots into small goals, Flick's group were mainly focused on match situations, including a three-team tournament. Klose challenged his group after warming up and rondos with some intensive passing exercises. At the end, the former world-class striker led some finishing drills with the goalkeepers and Sané and Co.

Target: Final tournament in Lisbon

Both groups were in an upbeat, concentrated mood during the 75-minute session. Bayern are confident and highly focused as they set their sights on the match against Chelsea on Saturday. After their 3-0 first leg win at Stamford Bridge, the Munich team are in an excellent position to make the final tournament stage of the Champions League in Lisbon.
